Adam Anderson Gearing Up for Full Season Against Brother RyanSamuel ReimanMon, 12/11/2023 - 6:36 pmAdam Anderson during an interviewAdam AndersonDrivers

With two decades of Monster Jam experience behind him, Adam Anderson has almost done it all. However, one thing he has never done is compete against one of his siblings for a full season. That will change in 2024, with Adam (Grave Digger) and Ryan Anderson (Son-uva Digger) squaring off in Stadium Championship Series West.

“We’ve competed together here and there, but never a full season have I been on the same tour with any of my siblings, so I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun,” said Adam. “Honestly, I feel like my Racing is stronger than Ryan’s. Not always. We both have our days. I feel like in Freestyle, sometimes Ryan just has that reckless abandonment which I wish I could do.

“Sometimes I think I’m processing in my head, you know, I want all of these families, these kids to be able to see Grave Digger for a moment before it gets destroyed, whereas I think Ryan doesn’t think about that sometimes.

“But I will say this. If you go back and look at most of times that Ryan and I are competing at the same place, I feel my Freestyles are inherently better.

“We can carry each other a little bit, even though we’re competing against each other, we kind of can feed off of that.”

Adam is one of the most decorated drivers in Monster Jam history, and he isn’t slowing down. In 2023, he clinched the Stadium Championship Series Red title. However, it has been since 2018 since he last added to his Monster Jam World Finals trophy cabinet.

“I’ve had a few tour championship scattered here and there in recent years, that I’d almost prefer a World Finals Championship,” says Adam. “I’ve always been the racer. I’d love to take the Racing title. But, it’s always been a dream to get both, I would love to win Racing and Freestyle. They’re adding these other competitions, and it would be cool to win one of those, but I know I’m not the strongest in those.

“I felt like I was in it [in 2023] and the truck couldn’t hold up to what I had to dish out. We had some issues here and there.

“I felt great in practice. I wasn’t always the top. I don’t ever care. I’ve started at the very bottom and then gone all the way to win a World Championship. That, in my eyes, is one of the hardest things to do is start from the beginning of the bracket and make it to the end. Not getting any bye runs. But I felt good and I knew I was going to be able to be smooth and consistent. And then the locker disengaging in the rear end in the final turn, it lost it for me.”

With Adam competing on the same tour as his brother Ryan, and two decades of Monster Jam experience behind him, it will be fun seeing what he can do in the black-and-green wrecking machine on Stadium Championship Series West in 2024. Their first event will be in San Francisco on January 6.
