Since the first event in Paris in October 2002, Monster Jam® has had its sights set on becoming a global phenomenon by bringing action to fans around the world. Each year, more countries (or territories) are added to the schedule and 2017 is no exception.

Fans are turning out in large numbers in South America as Monster Jam trucks are headed for La Plata, Argentina for two shows May 13-14. The May 13 engagement has already sold out as a field of eight trucks will be on hand for the first show in the South American nation. This follows a highly successful December 2016 show in Chile.

The European engagements will begin with a visit to Estadio Vincente Calderon in Madrid on June 17. A star-studded lineup will be on hand as Monster Jam stops in Madrid for the third straight year.

The following week, Monster Jam journeys to France, but this time, it will be Lyon that will be hosting the show at Parc Olympique Stadium. A field of 10 Monster Jam trucks will contend to become the inaugural winner in the stadium that opened in 2016.

Monster Jam’s Asian presence increased with a 2016 stop in Osaka, Japan. In 2017, Beijing, China is another new stop on the schedule for July 29-30. Four-time World Champion Adam Anderson and Grave Digger leads the field in the groundbreaking show at the famous “Bird’s Nest”, Beijing National Stadium, the home of the 2008 Olympics.

The 2017 return to Australia will include stops in Brisbane (Oct. 7), Melbourne (Oct. 14) and Sydney (Oct. 21). It will be the fifth year for ANZ Stadium in Sydney while Brisbane and Melbourne each appear for the fourth straight year.

October will be the time for fans in Mexico City to gather at Arena Ciudad de Mexico for a pair of performances.

November will feature events in San Juan, Puerto Rico (Nov. 3-5), Helsinki, Finland (Nov. 4-5) and Stockholm, Sweden (Nov. 18).

Monster Jam® will visit three countries during the month of June, bringing exciting action around the world.

While Gillette Stadium may be known as the home of the reigning NFL champion New England Patriots, it has become a regular stop on the Monster Jam schedule. The field will include both reigning World Champions (Ryan Anderson – Son-uva Digger® (Racing) and Lee O’Donnell – VP Mad ScientistTM (Freestyle). Anderson is the only driver to have Doubled Down at Gillette Stadium. The June 10 event, the fourth visit for Monster Jam, will include the competition debut of Wonder WomanTM, driven by Linsey Read.

On Saturday, June 17, Monster Jam returns to Madrid for the start of the European touring season.  Charlie Pauken (Grave Digger) returns to Madrid for the first time since 2011, looking to bring a championship for the Madrid fans. A field of nine other trucks will be reaching for their own glory, including five Monster Jam drivers making their Madrid debut.

On that same day, Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey will host its sixth Monster Jam. A field of 14 competitors includes two-time East Rutherford Racing champion Adam Anderson (Grave Digger) and a pair of former Freestyle winner, Ryan Anderson (Son-uva Digger 2014) and Scott Buetow (Team Hot Wheels FirestormTM 2016). Ryan Anderson is the only competitor in the field who has won both a Racing title (2016) and Freestyle (2014) at Met Life.

The final Saturday of the month (June 24) will again see action on two continents. Monster Jam will make its first appearance in Lyon, France, only the third time Monster Jam has been in France. Two previous appearances in Paris set the stage for the 2017 event as a 10-truck field will bring excitement to new fans.

Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, will host its second Monster Jam event. After a spectacular debut last year, fans in the Tennessee capital clamored for more.  The 2016 winners, Ryan Anderson (Son-uva Digger – Racing) and Scott Buetow (Team Hot Wheels Firestorm – Freestyle), will attempt to defend their titles.

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski aka “Gronk” has been a fan of Monster Jam for some time, but now he has a new favorite truck.

Prior to the June 10 Monster Jam show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Gronk was introduced to “Monster Energy’s Gronk”, a Monster Jam truck carrying a special paint scheme for the event. Gronk met the truck’s driver, Buddy Tompkins, and Mutant driver Todd LeDuc for the unveiling ceremony.

Gronkowski was on hand for the Saturday evening show as Tompkins finished second to Freestyle winner Ryan Anderson (Son-uva Digger®).

Monster Jam has previously hosted Patriot players Jerod Mayo and Vince Wilfork at past appearances.

The next stop for Monster Jam is Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (June 17), home of the New York Jets and the New York Giants. You never know who you might see when Monster Jam rolls into an NFL stadium.

Monster Jam Roars into Summer Action

The summer months provide a prime opportunity for Monster Jam to make stops at several race tracks in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The July schedule includes three visits that have been bringing Monster Jam fans out for exciting action for many years.

Lebanon Valley Speedway, affectionately known to the locals as “West Leb”, has a long-standing tradition of providing action during the week. This year’s schedule starts on Sunday, July 16 and runs through Wednesday, July 19. Adam Anderson (Grave Digger®) and Neil Elliott (Max-DTM) kept everyone else out of Victory Lane in 2016 and will return in 2017. Anderson won three Racing titles and a pair of Freestyle championships. Elliott claimed two Freestyles and the Tuesday racing program. The 2016 marked the second straight year for the Grave Digger/Max-D domination, sweeping all 2015 events. Linsey Weenk (Lucas Oil CrusaderTM) won two Racing titles in 2014 and heads the list of competitors trying to end the domination.

Monster Jam heads to Connecticut’s Stafford Motor Speedway for three shows, July 22-23. The 2017 lineup includes the return of Gary Porter (Carolina Crusher®), who claimed a Racing win last year. He’ll be joined by 2015 Stafford Racing champion Pablo Huffaker (Grave Digger). Several drivers, including Kayla Blood (El Toro Loco®) and Steven Sims (MutantTM) will make their Stafford debut, adding to the experience for longtime Stafford fans.

The tour turns south to Hagerstown Speedway in Maryland for a three-show weekend with action running July 28-30. Huffaker found victory with two Racing and two Freestyle wins in 2015 at Hagerstown. The 2017 includes Scott Buetow (Team Hot WheelsTM), who recorded a Freestyle win at Hagerstown in 2014, his first outdoor Freestyle championship in the truck. Porter visited Hagerstown in 2016 and earned a spot in two Racing finals.

It's Not Shark Week Without Megalodon

This is a good week to be a shark! Shark Week (Discovery) and SharkFest (NatGeo Wild) are attracting viewers, but they have also attracted the attention of Monster Jam’s own Megalodon®.

The respective weeks kicked off Sunday night with Monster Jam’s Megalodon right in the thick of it. Megalodon has taken over the Monster Jam Twitter feed, lurking around for the right time to make comments and stir up the conversation.

So far, the highlights of Shark Week and Shark Fest have been victories for "sharks" in races against swimmers Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte. Big deal! Megalodon has won 72 races in 2017 alone, including two in the Monster Jam World Finals XVIII.

As “Shark Week” and “Shark Fest” continue, expect to see more of Megalodon on Monster Jam social. In the meantime, the Megalodon truck is preparing to take on the world with planned stops in Singapore and Australia this year.

UPDATE: Forecasters are indicating the possibility of a Megalodon Twitter feeding frenzy later in the week. Keep watch at www.twitter.com/MonsterJam.

Monster Jam World Finals XIX Freestyle Odds

$
0
0
USA

The spectacular will become the norm on Saturday March 24 during Monster Jam World Finals XIX® Freestyle. It will truly be unexpected, unscripted, and unforgettable. Setting the odds for this wide-open competition is based on previous World Finals success, 2018 performances, and, frankly, playing a hunch or two.

Combining those factors puts a pair of Max-D superstars at the top of this list. What would be a better way to celebrate the truck’s 15th anniversary than with Tom Meents and Neil Elliott doing what they do best, thrilling Monster Jam fans with unbelievable freestyle performances? Meents has won this competition more than anyone in history and Elliott has been oh so close, including his runner-up finish a year ago. And rising Max-D athlete Colton Eichelberger can make a big splash here as well.

Noteworthy among others listed near the top here: Scott Buetow in Team Hot Wheels Firestorm is another who consistently wows the crowd and finishes near the top; Grave Digger’s Tyler Menninga is a social media mega-star with his amazing arena moves, and combining those with some big stadium stunts could propel him to the top; morning line racing favorite Ryan Anderson in Son-uva Digger has the best shot to pull off the ultimate double down; and defending champ Lee O’Donnell in VP Racing Fuels Mad Scientist figures to try to make more history.

As always, these odds are not meant to be predictions of a truly unpredictable competition. This is an event where any one of the 32 that take the track has a chance to win.

Here are the numbers heading into the freestyle portion of Monster Jam World Finals XIX. As always, they are presented “for recreational purposes only”.
